Nestled on SE Hawthorne, VeganO MexicanO is a spot with delicious tacos, emmoladas, chilaquiles, burritos, chile relleno and so much more! With proteins such as jackfruit carnitas, soy curls with mole, and asada seitan. There’s something to satisfy that Mexican food craving.

Note: The space is small and is covered but is not fully enclosed so dress warm if going on a cold day.

Mis Tacones

Mis Tacones has many delicious dishes to choose from!

Mis Tacones is a queer-owned vegan Mexican restaurant that's capturing hearts with its bold, innovative approach to plant-based cuisine. Founded by Carlos Reynoso and Polo Abram Bañuelos in 2016 originally as a pop up. They later opened their brick and mortar and have created a standout menu with items such as "fish" tacos made with crispy oyster mushroom "pescado", chorizo tortas packed with homemade seitan that rivals any traditional meat version, massive nacho plates and so much more! They have an outstanding brunch menu as well that is worth coming for. There’s even a bar with delicious cocktails and mocktails. As a testament to their commitment to community, Mis Tacones offers free meals to brown trans people, creating a welcoming space that celebrates diversity through delicious food.

The suadero is a stape taco at Chilango.

Chilango is a woman-owned Mexican restaurant founded by Vanessa Arrochi, a Mexico City native with a background in bio-chemistry. Chilango specializes in Mexico City street food where you’ll find suadero tacos, esquites, but also, quesadillas, sopes, and so much more!

Driven by her personal ethos, Arrochi has created more than just a restaurant—she's built a collaborative space where employees and patrons contribute to the restaurant's growth. With a commitment to fair wages, Chilango offers higher pay than most restaurants, reflecting Arrochi's dedication to ethical business practices. Her menu showcases innovative vegan Mexican dishes that honor traditional flavors while aligning with her values of sustainability and community.

La Casa de Mamá

Inspired by her mother's, Miriam Carrera founded La Casa de Mamá as a heartfelt tribute to her roots in Veracruz, Mexico. It is a panaderia pop up where you’ll find delicious conchas, flan, champurrado, and for savory, some delicious tamales with their signature mole sauce.

Her mission celebrates traditional Mexican cooking techniques and ingredients, reimagined through a vegan lens. Carrera's goal is to share her mother's cherished recipes, transforming them into plant-based dishes that preserve the soul of her family's cooking.
