5 Best Vegan Eats of 2023 in Portland, Oregon

This year, Portland has seen tremendous growth in the vegan food scene. While we said ‘good-bye’ to some of our most beloved restaurants, we also got to say ‘hello’ to new ones. Each one sharing something unique for all of us to enjoy. After eating at probably over 40 restaurants this year, these are my top eats of 2023 that you should check out in 2024!

Workshop Food & Drink

Workshop’s menu changes seasonally.

Sister restaurant to the famous, Fermenter. Chef Aaron Adams opened Workshop in March, which started as a place for Cuban bites. Eventually, it was transformed into a cozy spot for the best pre-fixe menu in the city. The menu changes seasonally as Chef Aaron uses all local ingredients and even uses local pottery for plating his artistic masterpieces. Everyone in the restaurant is served their course at the same time, which gives it a fun interactive experience as well. Every dish is complex in flavor and texture and leaves a lasting impression. It is reservation only but be sure to get a seat at the counter to see Chef Aaron and his team in action.

Broccolini and lemon pizza with za’atar and chili oil

This once popular farmers market stand is now a brick and mortar serving the famous Napolese-style folded pizzas for lunch and classic Neapolitan style pizza for dinner. With a veggie-focused menu, they use fresh, local ingredients to create deletable pizzas. Their pizzas can easily be made vegan. Their crust is made with flour imported from Italy and is proofed for 72 hours, creating the softest, most delicious dough. This may be the best pizza spot in Portland.
