SportsBox, a vegan grill in Portland, Oregon is a place for everyone.

You walk into SportsBox and you’ll most likely see General Manager and Head Chef, Roberto Sage. A passionate vegan of over 15 years who has created an all vegan menu full of nostalgic comfort food that you can eat while watching your favorite sports games and play a variety of games.

“I’m a big sports enthusiast, the owner is a big gamer, we’re both passionate about being vegan and animals. We wanted to figure out a way to create something for everyone.” says General Manger sage.

Sports Box opened in 2022 in SE Portland, Oregon, just right off the 99E highway. It is the first all vegan sports grill and game lounge where there is something for everyone.

Sage enthusiastically describes SportBox as “a unique venue that allows for anyone to come in. Even if you’re a fur baby. You can hang out, enjoy the live sporting events that we have. We have xboxs that are available. We have PC gaming with our Steam account library. We have 8 systems right now that gamers can play on. We have board games that are available. I basically say that it’s like an extended family room. You get to hang out, spend hours with yourself or family and be an adult or be a child and everyone can do their thing and have a safe space to enjoy that.”

While there’s plenty of entertainment, what is a true standout is their food. Head Chef Sage crafts every dish. Even making the ranch, buffalo sauce, and V1 (they’re version of the classic A1 sauce) in house. It is all nostalgic, comfort food. From burgers and tacos to wings and their outstanding Oregon Trail Steak Plate. A mushroom root steak with mouthwatering sides such as creamy mashed potatoes, collard greens with Thrilling Bakon, and Portland Toast. An homage to the Texas Toast.

“We collaborated on the menu, creating nostalgic comfort food for everyone, vegans and non-vegans. So we really created a space to allow families, non-vegans and vegans to able to come to a space that has good vibes, good food, and try to save an animal at a time.”
