Vancouver B.C. Guide For Vegans

Going to Vancouver B.C. and want to know where to go? Vancouver is a cool, diverse place with beautiful mountains surrounding the city. There is a lot to explore so I’ve put together a guide of everywhere I went in Vancouver that are a must if you’re in the city.

Where To Stay

If you want to stay central and really explore the city like I did, I highly recommend staying at Moda. It is in downtown Vancouver with access to parking and is near the subway station. For more hotel recommendations, check out Booking.com. It’s been my go to booking site for years!

What To Do

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Capilano bridge lit up in the middle of the forest.

The famous suspension bridge lit up at Love Lights.

Four words: The hype is real. The famous suspension bridge sits just outside of the city in North Vancouver. Crossing the famous 150 ft. (137m) suspension bridge is a must for the incredible views but the park offers so much more to see. You can learn about the local Indigenous culture at Kia’palano, walk on a narrow boardwalk on the Cliffwalk, and walk through the trees up in the treetops. For an even more magical experience, go between November and January for their Canyon Lights. The entire park is lit up. Going in February? They have Love Lights, which is the same as Canyon Lights but with a Valentine’s theme.

Walk Through China Town

This is the largest Chinatown in Canada, making it a must to see. It has Canada’s first museum that is devoted to China’s history and culture: Chinese Cultural Center. You’ll also find several coffee shops, book stores, restaurants, and other fascinating shops. One Chinese tea shop to check out is Treasure Green Tea Company. Vancouver’s first authentic Chinese tea shop. They have premium tea imported from China and they offer plenty of free samples to enjoy while you shop. A delightful experience I highly recommend.

Enjoy Charleson Park

Located in the Fairview neighborhood, this park sits right along the creek with the most gorgeous views of the city skyline. It is 7.14 hectares with areas to sit and walk through. I highly recommend coming here to enjoy the sunset as the sun hits the city’s tall buildings in the most stunning way.

If you love getting lost in books whether they’re old or new, then Macleod’s is for you! This store is located in the Gastown neighborhood and has a wide range of books for you to find. Books here are literally falling off the shelves, books all over the ground, a reader’s paradise. A place to come get lost in.

Where To Eat

House Of Dosas

House of Dosas offers you guessed it, dosas, as well as other South Asian dishes. They have plenty of vegan options and even gluten-free options too! This restaurant is located in East Vancouver on the busy street of Kingsway where there are several other SE Asian restaurants to choose from!

Nightshade

Nightshade is located in Downtown Vancouver and provides a truly elegant experience. All of the dishes are vegan and are served a la carte. Each dish is inspired from a different part of the world. Some of their dishes include mushroom wellington, vegetable bhaaji, and even a yuzu creme brulee! Reservations are highly recommended here, a perfect spot for brunch, lunch and dinner.

They have croissants that are flaky and buttery, delicious breads, and other satisfying desserts and savory options that are worth waiting in line for. Enjoy your treat with a hot cup of coffee or tea. It is a neighborhood delight that makes you feel right at home.

Heirloom

Heirloom is a place for contemporary dining that focuses on vegetarian and vegan dishes. Located in South Grandville, their menu contains a variety of dishes such as tacos, burgers, noodles, and so much more!

Mila

A premium casual dining experience with international all vegan dishes. Located on the border of Chinatown, this spot HAS to be on your list. They have an incredible brunch and all day menu with each dish thoughtfully prepared. Some of their dishes include: karaage bao, mushroom + sausage taglietelle pasta, and fried rice waffle. My experience at Mila was my most favorite meal that I had on my trip to Vancouver and I’m sure it will be yours too!

Prado Coffee

A local Vancouver chain with quality coffee and fresh baked goods that include vegan options.
